From the first minute of playing Heavy Rain on the PlayStation 3, I thought "wow, this is perfect for the iPad. The iPhone couldn't pull this off, and the iPad could do a better job than the PS3." For those of you who don't know, Heavy Rain is basically a "movie game" with detailed animations and every choice affecting something, leading to 20+ different endings. It's also very gesture-based, from picking up dishes and breaking them accidently to the fight scenes relying on how you do the gestures and how well you do, and even climbing involves alternation gestures.

I think the iPad could handle an optimized version of Heavy Rain with a nice amount of the eye candy. The big touch-screen is especially nice for choosing options, thoughts, and management. Then, the developers have a 10" screen and an accelerometer to create some amazing gestures. This could work so much better than the PS3. A controller doesn't completely feel right for this type of game. The replay value of every choice having its affects works especially well if you can play the game anywhere.

Check out all of the controller-based gesture detail that you use for decisions and all of the thoughts and dialog that you choose with a button, and the fighting system. This barely scratches the surface of the game. This is a perfect game for the iPad in almost every way, and the iPad is the perfect platform for the game:

Part of the reason why Heavy Rain is super immersive is the wonderful graphic. Yes the control will be amazing on touch screen but consider having Heavy Rain in previous or two generations old console (eg: PS2 or PS1), I don't think it will provide us with the same experience as what the current gen can achieve

I can picture a similar-looking Heavy Rain with some toned-down graphics. Some clever work could make a great-looking iPad version of Heavy Rain.

i loved heavy rain. obviously the ipad couldn't come close graphically to matching it but it would be interesting to have a similar type game for it. i'd be interested in it for sure.

    this.

Having the controller in your hand and using the joysticks to make movement, holding multiple buttons down to do things, pressing buttons in order, shaking, moving the controller....it was VERY well done on PS3...and I can't even imagine it being as fun with a touch screen. Touch here, then here, then here....over and over and over....it just wouldnt be as fun
