trying to set it up all night''without any luck:eek:....its asking for flash
player it says unavailable for iphone and iphone touch..i went on catch
tv with it but says need flash player...
Also he wants to buy games and films to'can anyone shed
any light on where to start.......thanks.....:)

there is no flash player for the iPod touch/iPhone. that means web pages that require flash will not work (hulu.com, etc)
as far as apps and games go, the iTunes Store is your source for those. Just open iTunes on your computer and click on iTunes Store on the far left column. You will see music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, audiobooks, and all of the apps available for the iPod touch.

Are you in UK, fitzy? That http://iphone.tvcatchup.com/ site is for UK users only. (It doesn't need jailbreaking, but it does need you to be in the UK.)

BTW: It also needs a WiFi connection - I assume you have that sorted?

Im in london m8...that link for tv is the one iv tried but it says i need
flash player..when my boy gets in il try again just to make sure...
He said his mait does'nt pay for games...etc he gets everthing free
but i thought i would check with you lot to see as my boy going to
buy some games..etc....dont want him to spend to much money..
thankyou m8..:)

Ps It also needs a WiFi connection...it picked up internet of
my modem and the nets fine..

Glad to hear you're in UK! :) TVCatchup have a very active set of support forums, with an iPod section. There is a relevant thread here. HTH.

Just so you know: I run TVCatchup on my iPod with NO FLASH PLUGIN. (It's not needed - on that site http://iphone.tvcatchup.com TVC reform the streams to play in Quicktime on the iPod Touch.)

Jailbreaking allows access to stolen apps (and other not so illegal things, like customization).

It's your call on whether you want your child to use things he stole, in which the person that wrote them got no compensation for....

As for movies - there are ways to rip DVDs you own and watch those files on the Touch. That is what we do here, or i use stuff i have recorded off my TV.

How old is your son? I'm thinking if he's old enough to have friends who tell him about jailbreaking, he's probably old enough to figure it out on his own. I'd tell him if he can figure out how to jailbreak, go ahead, but I wouldn't spend my time trying to figure it out for him. You already bought him an iPod, surely you've already done enough! :D

He said his mait does'nt pay for games...etc he gets everthing free

There are tons of free Trial versions of games and apps on iTunes.

I don't think my son's have paid more than $10 for any of the games and apps they have in the 2 years they've had their Touches. They are constantly installing more and more things...
