I decided to buy a MacBook in Space Gray and I went through the whole checkout process and just as I'm about to click on purchase, I'm wondering if I made the right choice in getting the 1.1 base model.

I'll be using this as my main computer and the things I usually do are emails, internet, Excel/Word documents, Photos (sorting, arranging, etc... no editing), watching movies on iTunes/Netflix. Will a 1.1 do it or will I notice a lag and have buyers remorse to get the upgraded 1.3?

Also the 1.1 ships out in 1 bus day with Best Buy whereas the orders from Apple ship 3-4 weeks... but at the end of the day if I'm spending that kind of money I'd rather get the machine that I'm happy with not how quickly it arrives (even though I WISH the 3-4 weeks i just an overestimate lol)

For your simple requirement's maybe you should just get a chromebook and forgo the Macbook.

That being said,I can't imagine apple made a 1.3 vs 1.1 if the speed is not fairly significant. If your already willing to pay that much for a apple product, what's a extra couple hundred.

Help - 1.1 or 1.3?

I was planning on getting the 1.2 but ended up getting a 1.1 for an awesome open box price. The savings went towards the dongle and bills. Since it's a secondary machine anyway, I couldn't justify the extra costs for 100-200mhz.

If you are using it as a primary machine then it may be worth it.

If Apple follows their routine, you'll see next year's base model starting at the 1.3ghz range or higher (and maybe cheaper). If this is a laptop you're going to hang onto for more than 3 years, I'd go for the 1.3 now. Just my two pennies.

1.1

Go with 1.1. For the purposes you have listed 1.1 will work just fine. Sell it when the next version comes out at at that time future proof it by getting the best you can. Same strategy for me. I have the 1.1 SG.
