As many of you are no doubt aware, the 10.5.6 update has a habit of giving MBP users a black screen after the second restart. the commonly suggested solution is to attach an external display to deal with it, which I have tried. the twist is I use dual displays normally, so when I tun the computer on the external display remains black as well. I don't know what else to try. Any suggestions are welcome.

Shot it the dark but it sometimes yields magical things - try connecting the display at a different time during the restart. Stranger solutions have worked before, and it's free to try.

Your suggestion didn't work, but Apple tech support was able to help even though I was out of warranty. Thanks anyway though.🙂
