You can always uninstall the bloatware. $200 for a halfway decent laptop with 64 bit Windows 8.1 with a warranty and Office 365 free for a year. What's to complain about?

I didn't know I could uninstall that, sounds like it is a great deal I forgot about the 365 free year which only ads to it.

That's interesting...

The Stream looks like a nice netbook and the 64-bit Windows 8.1 is a bonus, but is the board a 64-bit board? If it isn't then then 64-bit version of Windows doesn't make much sense in my opinion.

If you haven't fully decided or made the purchase yet, there might be an open box item at your local Best Buy that you could install LibreOffice on and be better off.

It runs a Intel Celeron N2840, it's definitely 64-bit. Couldn't run a 64-bit OS if it wasn't.

Downside is that it only has 2GB RAM, and it's non upgradeable, along with the 32GB eMMC it has for storage. But for it's intended uses and price it's better than using a slow, moving HDD.

Do you guys think the stream 11 would work for cyberschool or would that be pushing it?

Thats great, thanks for telling me about that nothing better than saving money, I guess I can buy this now knowing it will do all I need it too, thanks everyone!

Cyber school? Microsoft has modest educational discounts for students on their website. Makes the Stream 11 $180, Stream 13 $206, and the Stream 14 $229. Make sure you get one that says Signature Editon, shouldn't come with a bunch of crap programs on it.

You can delete those crap programs though right? If I had to?

Well thanks for the suggestion though, I'm going with a Stream 11" just hoping it doesn't have alot of bloatware from HP

My wife's HP didn't come with too much bloatware and as noted, its easily uninstalled.

I just ran across the Acer 11 Chromebook, is that better than the stream, worse? Sorry I stink with this kind of stuff.

Good point!

They aren't the same thing. Chromebook is a thin client, needs to be connected to the internet for most things to work. Stream is a full Windows computer that can theoretically do anything a full windows computer can do (memory and storage allowing). I have no love for Microsoft, but for similar money I'd go with the full computer over the chromebook.

Ok thanks, to me they are all "laptops" I didn't know a chromebook was so inferior
