I upgraded my 20" C2D iMac from 2x512MB RAM to 2x1GB RAM from Crucial directly. The About This Mac screen shows 1.95GB total RAM, but the System Profiler shows 2x1GB. Why doesn't the About This Mac show 2.00GB RAM? I got the same results with Mushkin RAM from Newegg.

Is something wrong with my iMac?

Thanks.

Never mind... turns out it is a residual bug from an old Parallels install. In case someone else has the problem, upgrading Parallels and zapping the PRAM fixes it.

Interesting, I have seen this sort of thing under Windows XPee, but never under Mac OS X. Glad you were able to fix it though micvog. 🙂
