Eek! I just got myself a new black MacBook yesterday. I store my iTunes library on an external Lacie drive. I was transferring my iTunes library XML file between my old Dell and the new MacBook. It wasn't working properly. The next thing I know, there is suddenly 60GB (the size of my iTunes library) free on my Lacie drive and all of my music, tv shows and movies are gone!!!

I don't think I manually deleted my music, it may have been overwritten somehow during the process, but I have no idea how!?

Does anyone know of an OS X utility that can restore the files??? Thank you in advance for your help! I will be devastated if I can not restore my library, it has over 9 years of music!

That's unlucky, I take it that you've deleted it from the Dell. There really is no substitute for backups, especially when data is precious.

I've used ProSoft Engineering's DataRescue II before now, and it worked OK. Be sure to NOT write anything else to the disk before using it.
