I already have the 4870 installed in a new MacPro I just bought a 2600XT to add two dvi connections.

I have the machine opened up right now. The 4870 takes up the bottom double slot. Can I leave a space open right above the 4870 and install the new video card 2 spaces up, to leave air space??

I believe it is a 4x slot. I have never done a video card in a Mac before. Is there a special way to install it? It looks like there is a rod that is used to hold the one side of the card and then you push it in the PCI slot, correct??

thanks,

Mike

Please lock thread...I got it working! The card had to go into the second slot since it was a 16x card.

ciao
