Long story short: I bought an iphone 12 mini 256gb from the apple store on 3/11. Decided to return it for the 128gb a few days later. The salesperson ended up accidentally giving me the 64gb. I realized right when I got home so I went back to the apple store immediately to make the exchange. Come to find out, I have an reverse upgrade freeze on my account because apple didn't fully process the return. I've contacted att and apple and they're both pointing fingers at each other. I've been to the apple store so many times in this last week where I pretty much know all the mangers by name. All that to say, it's 3/24 and I still have no iphone. Anyone have any recommendations on what my next step should be? Thanks in advance.

Can you get Apple and AT&T on the phone at the same time?
Sounds like Apple dropped the ball.

Funny you mentioned that. I went to the apple store yesterday and spent three hours there while the salesperson, and apple post sales rep and att were on a three way call. The resolution was that it was apple's fault. A request to do a reverse upgrade was submitted and they it would take 1-2 days. The thing that makes me worry is that they submitted this same "reverse upgrade" request last week and nothing happened.

Happened to me too for the 6 Plus when it was released. When I returned it, the upgrade reverse didn't happen. AT&T couldn't do anything about it since it wasn't purchased directly to them since I purchased it at Apple. So yes, this is technically Apple's end that needs to resolve this. Be persistent. If in 2-3 days it still hasn't reset, do it again.

And this is one reason why I always choose to buy the phone outright when I have money saved up for it.

I checked my att account late last night and it said that the upgrade was available. So my persistence paid off! I went and picked up my new phone this morning. Also, to make up for it, the manager offered me a free case. I didn't need a case so I asked if I can get the MagSafe Charger Duo and she hooked me up. So it was definitely worth it!

Glad it worked. Enjoy.
