I had a long and wordy reply typed, dripping with sarcasm, and then realized I was wasting my time. You can't reason with Fanboys.

Dude, if you like what you see, wait until it comes out and go buy it. Although, CES headliner products aren't ready for the big-time so you may have a wee bit of a wait.

please give me a couple of reasons to stay loyal to Apple©????

Apple is not a spouse that you stay married to, or you cheat on. They're a multibillion dollar company. If Microsoft has a better product, buy theirs. Simple as that.

I purchase a product based on my needs and how that product fulfills that need, not because it has a nice logo on it.

Also, is Windows 7 available for Bootcamp?

Yes, for a long time.

Which should I buy (when it comes out), Lion or Windows 8 (or whatever they are gonna call it)?

I wouldn't hold my breath for Windows 8. It'll be a while before it rears it's head. Lion will be available long before that.

And as an Xbox gamer I am really happy for Avatar Kinect (who here thinks Project Natal was so much more badass?), it almost gives me a reason to go out and buy a Kinect. But I will wait until First Person Shooters come out for it.

How is this relevant?

I remember Microsoft being on a 2-3 year roadmap similar to Intel's tick-tock strategy. The server releases are staggered with the major desktop OS releases as well.

But we have no real empirical evidence of this for client OS versions other than Vista to Windows 7. And that was a requirement for the company to shed the bad feelings Vista gave to it's customers. Before that.. There was a massive lag between XP and Vista. Windows 7 was an easy release since it was just a (more or less) cleaned up version of Vista.. e.g., what Vista SHOULD have been. The same as how Snow Leopard is what Leopard SHOULD have been.

I just don't see it happening before Lion is released, though I should note, I have no interest in Lion being released.

Windows 7 was released rather quickly after the Vista debacle. I loathe going back to trying to use XP or Vista after using 7 for ages now.

Hopefully we'll see something at CES 2012 for Windows 8 and maybe even a Public Beta. Windows 7 was extremely stable for me in Beta and RC.

I'm looking forward to the rumored clean install with preservation of user space. Maybe Intel and Microsoft can get something more cooperation with this SSD caching I hear about on the next Z68 platform later this year. Hybrid SSD boot and mechanical disks need to expand a little beyond the current Momentus XT or dual drive solutions. I'd like to see the OS installer recognize the SSD and install the OS there but seamelessly install applications and share user space on a much larger mechanical disk. It's not pretty seeing multiple volumes.
