One of our main TVs just died, and we get to fill the 34" wide by 29" tall cabinet with an HD TV. The only thing is, i need to pick out a specific brand and model so my dad can get it from "his guy" (very shady).....so.....any suggestions?
Seems like all you can get is a 37" which rules out many of the choices that are available in larger sets. (I compute the size of a 16:9 37" screen to be 32x18). There are Sony, Philips and Westinghouse models of this size that are often recommended. B
I am a bi fan of Syntax Olevia TV's the 537i is a great set. I have the previous year model and it has served me well. I am considering getting the 542H for th eliving room upstairs.
More info than we needed. Another piece of data. You can often get a decent 36" HD CRT for $800 or less... B
Thanks guys. I think a 37" is too big for that cabinet. This would fit well: http://reviews.cnet.com/Samsung_LN_S3251D/4505-6482_7-31787622.html?tag=lst It matches the black gloss of the surrounding cabinets and everything.
You may well be right thanks to the bezel and backlight. I have the 40" version of that TV and like it very much. Big fan of Samsung LCDs. Good choice. Plus, you can get the iPod connectivity kit for the Sammy. B
Go for a Samsung DLP or LCD. They're consistently the best. You can usually get more bang for your buck with a 1080p DLP over an LCD, plus the newer models have MUCH better contrast than an LCD.
We got this TV 2 days ago (Samsung 32"). Set up was a breeze, and HD looks wonderful on it. Very impressed with the TV, easy to use, looks great, and my xbox 360 games look sweet
