One of our main TVs just died, and we get to fill the 34" wide by 29" tall cabinet with an HD TV. The only thing is, i need to pick out a specific brand and model so my dad can get it from "his guy" (very shady).....so.....any suggestions?

Seems like all you can get is a 37" which rules out many of the choices that are available in larger sets. (I compute the size of a 16:9 37" screen to be 32x18).

There are Sony, Philips and Westinghouse models of this size that are often recommended.

I am a bi fan of Syntax Olevia TV's the 537i is a great set. I have the previous year model and it has served me well. I am considering getting the 542H for th eliving room upstairs.

All the reviews I have found for it seem to be very, very positive. I'm looking forward to it 🙂

You may well be right thanks to the bezel and backlight.

I have the 40" version of that TV and like it very much. Big fan of Samsung LCDs. Good choice. 😉 Plus, you can get the iPod connectivity kit for the Sammy.

Just got this TV ( Samsung 32") last week and absolutely love it.

Go for a Samsung DLP or LCD. They're consistently the best. You can usually get more bang for your buck with a 1080p DLP over an LCD, plus the newer models have MUCH better contrast than an LCD.

We got this TV 2 days ago (Samsung 32"). Set up was a breeze, and HD looks wonderful on it. Very impressed with the TV, easy to use, looks great, and my xbox 360 games look sweet 🙂
