Help cant get into new computer

My screen is locked and it is asking for the password. I cannot move the mouse so I cannot type the password in the box, the cursor is in the password box the the keyboard wont type and mouse wont move.

Now what?

New 27" imac

Wired or wireless keyboard and mouse? If wired, make sure the connections are secure. If wireless, do you have a wired USB keyboard you can plug in long enough to log in?

Then follow my suggestion, AFTER you verify you put the batteries in facing the right direction and make sure the keyboard and mouse are on.
