    Hello,

I've suddenly come across a problem, which I'm not sure I understand at all... My Macbook Pro has stopped being able to read PC burnt data CDs. CDs that have previously worked. I get the "The disk inserted was not readable by this computer" error. They work in my old PC laptop, BUT, I booted up in Boot Camp on my Macbook Pro and it only saw the CD as a blank CD, so I'm guessing it's not an OS problem.

Just to make things even more clear, PC burnt audio CDs STILL work, and Mac burnt data/audio CDs still work. So it also doesn't seem to be a problem with the optical drive itself.

    I'm a bit miffed...

    Cheers for any help.

    Louis

What Mac OS X version do you have on what exact MacBook Pro? And in what Windows version did you burn the CDs with what application and what settings?
Could it be, that the CDs are written as multi session CDs and not finalised yet?

    Hi thanks for the reply,

    I'm in OS X 10.5.8, on a Macbook Pro from May/June 2008.

I don't know what version of windows or with what program these CDs were burnt, but what I do know is that they did work before on my Macbook Pro, so I guess it doesn't matter, the fact is, they worked before but now they don't  ... this is the first time since I got my MBP that I have encountered this "The disk inserted was not readable by this computer" error... I find it very strange.

    Cheers.

    Louis

One other thing I failed to mention, they work in my dad's Mac (iMac bought at the same time as the Macbook Pro, OS X 10.5.8)

I hope someone is able to help as I have absolutely no idea what to even try, I just keep putting my disks in over and over again, hoping it will work this time, seeing as the fact that it stopped working is equally as random.

Do any other type of CDs/DVDs work?

    Your Superdrive may be dying.

    Hi thanks for replying,

    Short answer: yes.

"PC burnt audio CDs STILL work, and Mac burnt data/audio CDs still work.'

    + all DVDs.

    Cheers,
