help! clock status and airport status not showing in menu bar.

Hi guys, I need your help. For some reason, when I go to check the '___ (eg airport, clock, time machine and etc) status in the menu bar', the icon does not appear in the upper right hand side or it remains to be uncheck. Does anyone know how to fix this? Restarting does not seem to work and my settings are unlocked so I should be able to change it.

 

K thanks... this link helped to restore my menu bar. The problem now is that the drop down menus are greyed out? anyway to fix this? I tried resetting and still won't work.

 

well i did both... deleted the preferences first, which solved the menu bar not showing. Then I uncheck and recheck the show in menu bar to try solve the greyed out options.
