and i cant delete or cut each one. now i have a backups in my trash, on my desktop, and in my external.

i was just trying to delete everything, partition my drive, and start over.. how do i do that once i work this out?

Is the whole external drive for Time Machine?

I would just turn off Time Machine and reformat external drive.

how do i delete the two backups.backupdb folders in my trash and desktop? they say they cant be deleted because of the bootx file...

also: just how DO i reformat the drive?

figured it out.. i now have the following HD's

Internal: files, music, pictures important documents/apps etc
External: random pictures, downloaded icon sets, widgets etc, extra stuff
Time Machine: Backup of internal only

Thanks anyways! :)

hmm i got it all down to 1 partition because it was messing up..
i let time machine reformat the drive, but now it says there was an error.

when i look in the time machine drive the backup.backupdb folder was created?? what is going wrong??
