(sorry for the huge photos i don't know how to resize them..)

i am so upset.
i was listening to music with my headphones plugged in the audio jack today while my iphone was in my jeans pocket.
i had to get on a bus and the bus started moving before i had a chance to sit down.. so when i did... well. i think you all know what happened then.
apart from damaging the audio jack..
my 'sleep' button died as well.. so now i can't swtich my phone off nor put it to sleep/standby mode.

i will be visiting apple care tomorrow right away... (i am so so so upset)
i know i should just wait til tomorrow to find out
but.. i am so anxious to know whether apple will replace this for me..
or do i have to pay for a brand new phone. :(

this is just 3 months old ... yeah.. its the 3gs. :(

anyone had this issue before?

even if i am willing to pay? :(
so i need to buy a new phone?

What im saying is they will not replace it free under warranty, seeing as it is user created damage. They will probably give you a quote on how they can fix it out of warranty, or they will require you buy a new phone.

It'll be an out of warranty replacement for $199.

thank you...
at least now i know i don't need to actually pay for a brand new phone...
fingers crossed its about the same price for out of warranty replacement in hong kong.. sigh.

See this link for more info on OOW service.

http://www.apple.com/uk/support/iphone/service/faq/#warranty4

It's a UK link....the U.S. link says the same, but it was the first one I found.

thank you so much for the link. really appreciate it...
at least it gave me a rough idea on the pricing..
the stupid hong kong version of this website doesn't tell me anything...
apart from 'contact your service provider for more details'
so i guess i'll just have to try my luck tomorrow. :(
thanks anyway! x

wow that is some damage haha never seen that

apple will replace it for $200 since accidental damage is not covered
