Im having problems disabling private browsing. I downloaded xcode/interface. I can get to mainmenu.nib and in it is keyedobjects.nib. i try to open that with the interface and it doesnt allow. I have also tried going to interface and opening safari but that wasnt an option. I am able to get a screen like the pic above but does not have safari menu as an option.
if you are able to help me solve this problem, it would be a great help.

Here is what you can do with Interface Builder, if you have it:

After opening the original (unaltered) MainMenu.nib file as described above,

- Select the "Safari" menu from the MainMenu window
- Select "Private Browsing..." in the menu
- From Interface Builder's "Tools" menu, select "Connections Inspector" - this should give you a palette that is divided into 3 sections
- Under the second section, "Sent Actions", there should be a pair of labeled ovals: in the right-hand oval, click the "x" at its left end to make the oval go away.
- To be safe, do this with the "Private Browsing" line right below the first one as well
- Save the file

What that does is cut the menu off from its function. When you launch Safari after doing that, "Private Browsing..." will appear in the menu, but it will be disabled (greyed out).

You are going inside the nib bundle. This is not what you want to do. Double click on the gold box bundle file itself, the one called "MainMenu.nib"

Guys, I'm having the exact same problem.

I just downloaded and installed XCode 4 and all worked well.

However, once I get to the "Interface Builder" part this is the screen that I get when trying to open the "MainMenu" thing:

Please, can someone help me out? I don't know what to do. As you can see, I tried to click that little lock on the top right to "Unlock" and do whatever but it just won't let me.

Please help me.

Unlock main menu nib

Hello!i try to disable private browsing but when I get in main menu nib, I can't because it say "I'm not the owner and I must modify with permissions" something like that. What should I do? I must change the extensions?
Please I will be glad to your response.
Thank you!!
Luciana

1. Go to you Applications folder.
2. Find the Safari icon.
3. Control click on Safari and choose "Show Package Contents" and another Finder window will open.
4. Double click on "Contents"
5. Double click on "Resources"
6. Scroll down and double click on "English.lproj"
7. Scroll down and double click on "MainMenu.nib" This should open the interface builder application. You should see these windows:

The long window titled "Mainmenju.nib - MainMenu" is where you actually edit Safari's menus. In that window:

8. Click on "Safari" A menu will pop up looking like this:

9. Click on "Private Browsing" so that its highlighted.
10. Press delete. It should disappear.
11. Go up to the Interface Builder menu, click on File, and then click on Save.

Let me know if you're still having problems and what step you are able to get to before you can't figure out what to do.[/QUOTE]
