Help: Error message from Internet Connect

    Hi there,

    my buddy just got his first Mac ever (after my recommendation). Unfortunately he gets an error message every time he starts the machine: "Could not open the communication device".

    The error is from the program: Internet Connect.

    He also receives this error whenever he opens Safari or any other web-using software.

    He has a Macbook Pro with Mac OS X 10.4.10.

    I created a new user account and the problem persists there.

    I would be eternally grateful for any hint in the right direction. Thank you.

    Not where you live.
    Is he using a modem to connect to the Internet?

    No, he's not.

    Never ever attached a modem or anything of the sort. Only Airport.

    Get him to upgrade to Leopard: They removed Internet Connect. ;)

    Lol. I told him the same thing. He's also eligible for a 9,95$ leopard (he just got his Mac this month)

    But, seriously...anybody have any more ideas?
