In 10.9 we have debug version of SMC kext. It's just a debug log, do not try to take any message for the error. In your case, the system tries to check for I/O panel lights sensor that is on the new Mac Pro 2013. Of course it's not present on your macbook and you see in log that the system cant't find it

Ah, that's what's going on... did you try cloning a Mac Pro image to a different Mac?

For what?
Mac Pro has a hardware sensor which is controlled by SMC chip, SMC chip has the keys for reading/writing data. Without hardware sensor we can't get SMC key which is not in the SMC firmware.

Misunderstanding, that question was directed at the OP, not at you.

nono im running mavericks on a macbook pro 2012. never cloned it on any other machine

Oh so its nothing wrong?

This thread shows why chasing console messages when you don't have any issues leads to problems and misunderstandings.

I will state once again that not everything in the Console is a problem. Many items are just notifications developers leave in there for potential troubleshooting in the future for themselves.

If done right, developers should be assigning severities to messages. Use Console's filtering to only see messages of "Level" greater than "Error" and I'd wager your Console logs will look pretty sparse if not actually empty.

Should you browse your Console logs if you're having a problem? Absolutely.

Should you browse your Console logs if you're not having issues? Only if you know what to look for, IMHO.
