So, I'm looking for a long and wide desk UNFORTUNATELY, ikea is out of the question. No location near me and to ship a Galant (the desk i VERY much wanted) will cost over 350+.. the desk is priced at 160. So, i'm not paying 510 for a Galant.. my budget is really around 300 or so and I'm looking for something simple and sturdy.

I need to hold my 27" iMac, my MBA and my iPad/iPhone as well as having ample space for working on.

Any suggestions? Wanted a Galant for Xmas but it was just too expensive to ship.

If you or a friend is handy with tools, think about a nice slab of wood, hopefully a barn find that would be walnut or oak. The possibilities are about endless if you start with a slab about 1 inch thick. For $300 bucks you could even go to a Woodcraft or similar store and buy many kinds of exotic wood slabs that with a bit of ingenuity and work will provide you a custom desk that a millionaire would envy!

Ikea Mickael

I have an older Mickael corner desk from Ikea. You can find them used for about $60 on craigslist. It's wide enough for a 27" display, cable routing through the back, magnetic white board, lots of storage. I use the metal filing system for bills, bank statements, etc. I have my subwoofer and speakers on the top, along with some stuffed animals. You can see the storage for DVDs under the shelf on the right. I love my desk. It's been disassembled and moved 3 times now, and still fits together perfectly.
