Well, I'm thinking she's not gonna get what she wants. I keep trying to restore from both the 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 files with no luck. And I highly doubt she knows what the shsh blobs are. Hell, I don't even know that! LOL

I'm thinking she's just gonna be stuck using her TMobile phone until an unlock for 4.2 comes out.

did you get the f0recast software juice was talking about. this will tell you what you can do. just google it exactly like I spelled it using a zero for the 0. and you can and should get tinyumbrella this will tell you alot also. then use the jailbreak link in my signature and it will tell you based on your answers exactly what to do.

Yeah, seems it's not unlockable.

Okay. I appreciate all the help gals and guys! I knew I could get the iPhone up and running again, but I didn't think I'd get stuck at the sim card issue.

Damn, I'm SOL I just checked my phones info with f0recast, I'm on 6.8 :/

I'm btw in the same situation, upgraded too hastily and now i'm stuck.

any suggestions other than waiting for 4.2?

LOL I just saw your post over TiPB forums!

Correct me if I'm wrong here but didn't the FTC or someone rule that unlocking and jailbreaking were legal?

I wonder what legal recourse the consumer has for something like this? Is it legal to paint your car and still retain the warranty? If unlocking and jailbreaking is legal in the eyes of the "government" then does Apple really have the ability to void your warranty? After all, it's just software modification.

Right?

And also correct me if I'm wrong, but erasing all content and settings and restoring as a new iPhone completely erases all traces of said jailbreaking activity?

Thing that sucks for me too is that I'm in China right now, and haven't a phone lol... Well as another user mentioned somewhere else, I've got a really nice iPod Touch :(

Alright, I think I'm in business. That sim card showed up today for this iPhone 3G. I used pwnage tool to jailbreak it. Now I'm restoring from the custom ipsw file it created and I'm seeing the pineapple on the boot screen.

So I'm hoping this works out and it's jailbroken. So now, what's the latest word, if anyone knows, about an unlock for it? Anything?

So I should or should not update to iOS 4.2 and then rejailbreak it? What is the best course of action right now?

Okay, all done. Finished it up last night but had to wait until this morning to get the iPhone to her and have her put her T-Mobile SIM card in. It worked like a champ.
