    Format: MP4 or MKV
    Video Codec: .H264
    2-pass-encoding
    constant quality set to 100%

    Audio > Mixdown: AC3 passthrough

But it will take up a lot of storage space.

Do NOT set constant quality to 100% it is completely stupid and pointless. It will NOT be better than a constant quality of around 60%. Go to the Handbrake website and read the forums, but for God's sake do NOT set quality to 100%. It doesn't work like that.

Yeah, VBR would be better. But with two passes.

Also Constant bitrate and 2-pass would be a time waster.

I hear 2 pass is pointless with the new Constant Quality setting, as the difference is negligible.

Anyway, you are best using the "Apple Universal" preset - will work on any Apple device (Apple TV, iPhone, iPod etc) and the quality is decent.

I can't tell the difference between a DVD playing back on my TV and that ripped with HandBrake's Apple Universal preset playing off my Apple TV.
