I believe this has to be a settings issue, but regardless I feel really stupid for asking this.

Computer does recognize the camera is there, and I can import into iMovie 08 perfectly fine.

When it comes to Final Cut Pro, it does not detect the camera and when I go into import it also just shows a black screen.

What I'm doing

1. Open Final Cut Pro with camera connected and on.
2. File / Log and Capture
3. My settings are. Device Control: FireWire NTSC Basic. | Capture/Input: Generic Capture Template |
4. My screen continues to say Preview Disabled.

Anyone? :(

Did you shoot DV or HDV? If DV then choose the DV-NTSC anamorphic Easy Setup. If HDV then choose the HDV 1080i60 Easy Setup. Then connect the camera.

I'm assuming that the FX-1 has the same down-convert options as the Z1?

You'll also need to make sure down-convert is off if you want to capture HDV...
