Help! I can't hear my mac at all.

Ok, so here's what's wrong.
I can't hear my mac with or without headphones.
I have gone to system preferences and checked all the options that are there. I SHOULD be able to hear something but i don't. I was using iShowU when it happened. I think it has something to do with that. Please please someone help i'm afraid of what could have happened!
