Help - I can't restore my phone

I desperately need help to get my phone working. I just tried updating on my computer and there was an error and now my phone screen indicates that I need to connect to itunes but when I connect to itunes it says my phone is in restore mode so I can't use itunes. I've tried going to apple support but because I can't access my phone to get the serial number it won't let me progress. I am travelling overseas tomorrow and desperately need my phone to work. Is there anyone who can may be assist me please?

Have you tried holding both the power and home button simultaneously, counting to ten and then letting go of the home button?

Thanks but that did not work. I got a reply on another message to look at ht1808 apple article and this made it pretty clear I need to take it in for repairs. Very inconvenient.

You may try putting it in dfu mode and doing a restore.
