The title says it all. I was deleting some software from my computer, and I must have deleted some sort of file for text edit, now it shows a question mark in my dock, and I cant find the app anywhere on my Mac. How do I restore it? Thanks

If you still have the original OS X install disc you can get it from there.

Wow! all these replies in like 5 minutes! I tried using Disk 2 of the resotre disks, but it doesnt say textedit when I click "customize" - it's only stuff like iPhoto, iWeb, etc. SHould I do it anyway?

    It's on Disc 1.

You're more then likely going to need to use Pacifist.

This is true. Blue Velvet's post was a bit more clear than mine.

In "demo mode"? Are you sure you're not thinking of Pages?

Time Machine would have been a viable method also, assuming you're backing up (you are, right?).

Why do you need TextEdit at all? There are plenty of free, lightweight text editors you can download and install in its place.

Not many if any Third party options can save in the 8 formats TextEdit can plus it is built into OSX with all the plusses that come with that.
It isn't as lightweight as it looks. ;)
