Hey,
So every second or third day or so, when I log onto MSN, there will be this totally unfamiliar email that is trying to add me, and it has been like this for over a month. The two first that came, I added them on my iPhone, in case it would do harm to my computer. It appears it's bots, and they claim to recognize me from both economic and porn sites, and I've never given my email to such sites! That's why I keep blocking them, and not adding them to my contact list. What do you think? Is my email infected with a virus or trojan or anything like that, or is it safe, unless I add them to my contacts?

I would say it is just spam. There are no viruses that can harm Mac OS X, but there are some trojans, but they have to be installed manually while you enter your account password. Unless you have installed something from a source that is not trustworthy (porn sites or torrents) you should be in the clear.

I have never installed anything that is doubtable. I did, however, now that I remember it, accidentally add one of the bots on my previous Macbook (I went Pro two weeks ago, harrrharrr), and it started talking to me, but I blocked and deleted it immediately. Still, you think it's just spam, and that I don't have to be afraid at all?

Lol, I had one of those bots. At first I thought it was a person, responding properly etc, but then I realised it was a spammer and started calling it fat and it would still talk about it's "Live cams". It was funny for a bit, then I deleted it.

So it's just harmless spam then?

Did it ever stop trying to add you? It keeps coming back with a different email-address every time.

Just added me one time, then I deleted and blocked, and that was it. Never happened again. Do you use a Hotmail account? They seem to get more spam than anything else.
