it shows "No SIM card installed" I used it for about 6 hrs and now I got this message. What do I do? I took out the sim and put it back and nothing.

I remember this was happening when the first iPhone came out. Either swapping the SIM card or the phone fixed it.

I'm gonna do a restore. This is lame, I only used it for 6 hrs and it crapped out.

Go to your local ATT store. They should have the Microsims. iPad 3G uses microsim so they should have some in store. Especially in prep for tomorrow.

I had this same problem, but it wasn't due to a faulty sim.

My sim tray would not come out by inserting a paper clip or sim eject tool. I felt like it was going to break the phone. I finally managed to get the tray out and when putting it back in I got No Sim error.

Turns out the screw that holds the eject mechanism is loose inside the phone (you can see the screw rattling around inside the sim slot).

I put a piece of tape on the back of the sim / tray to hold it more firmly in the slot and it is working until the rush dies down and I can schedule a replacement.

Just got back from AT&T and the lady said there must have been an error when activating the phone at home (I wear there wasn't). She then activated it at the store and it should work fine from here on out. She said if theres anymore problems, just come back and we'll switch the card.
