Here is my ordeal.

I have a 2005 iMac 10.4.11(latest updates) in which I was using to sync my iPhone 3G. My AT&T contract ended & I purchased an iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 won't sync to my iMac because it requires 10.5.8.

I can use my mothers Macbook (10.5.8) to backup my old 3G but it doesn't transfer photos, music & app information (Soundhound & Ambiance) onto her machine.

How can I transfer this stuff easily over to the laptop? The 3G touch screen broke. It turns on,syncs etc. but it has no touch capacity...

Very frustrating...

use expod or senuti or some other utility to pull all the files off the 3g.

PhoneView is my personal favorite for this (their UI and feature set are the best), but there are a number of apps that will work. I believe iPhone Explorer and PhoneDisk (both from the same company) will also do the trick, and PhoneDisk appears to still be free this month.

Use expod (which is free) for the music, image capture to get the camera roll pics off, and iTunes (right click iPhone and then choose transfer purchases) to get the apps off. App information (I assume you mean settings) are in the backup, so just backup the iPhone for that.
