Whatever the simple answer to this is, it escapes me.

When I click on Agree and Download on the Google Earth webpage
http://www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html

the file that is presented is a .exe file, which my computer treats as a Windows file that it cannot process.

How do I install Google Earth for Mac OS X?

That downloads a ".dmg" file for me. What mac do you have? What version of OS X? What browser are you using? Have you done anything to change the way the browser identifies itself?

Firefox 20

Based on your reply, I tried Safari instead and it worked (.dmg).
Not sure why it is assuming I have Windows because I am running Firefox.
