Hey. I have a .dmg on my computer of OS X, and a computer with no DVD Drive, but the machine has Firewire. Isn't there a way to partitioin an external Firewire Hard Drive, put OS X on it (not install it, but mount it or something), and install from the external drive?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Do you have one or two computers? Your question doesn't make this clear.

If you have two, then start the DVD-equipped one in FireWire target mode (with the OS X DVD in the drive), and then boot up the non-DVD one while holding Option, and the OS X DVD should appear. You don't need to make a .dmg to do this.

Alternatively, just pay the $10 for the CDs
