Hello,

A week ago my internal speakers disappeared from audio outputs on my 1G MBA (1.6/80gb). they would come back with a restart for a while, but now there just gone. I think I have tried every fix I could find:

-I do not use headphones, so the toothpick is N/A. There is NO audio output
-Re-installed OS-X
-PMC Reset (speakers came back after the first time, but then disappeared)
-PRAM Reset
-Extended Hardware diagnosis: No errors found

Another thing that is happening is that when the speakers are "missing", quicktime video is choppy, as is streamed video (like youtube). I also tried the garage band analysis and got the "Core Audio Selected Driver not found.
(-10202)" message.

Other then these things, the computer is functioning flawlessly...

My Applecare warranty is up, and I am afraid of the impending doom in charges. Does anyone have any ideas of additional steps I can take?

no sound

I have a similar problem on my computer. Sound cuts out frequently viewing youtube videos in Safari. I have never lost sound using iTunes. In addition to the internal speakers I have a USB audio out to a stereo.

My work around is to switch users, check audio and then return to the first user. This is faster than launching GarageBand or checking Audio Midi Setup.

Good luck!
