i recently was hit on my bicycle and broke the screen on my new macbook. i have replaced the screen and now when i turn on the computer i get a white screen with the apple symbol, it stays on for about a minute then shuts off. i have put in the OS X start up disk and run the disk utility. i ran the verify disk and came up with the following:

checking journaled hfs plus volume
checking extents overflow flie
invalid leaf record count
(it should be 92 instead of 90)checking catalog file
incorrect block count for file com.apple.audio.devicesettings.plist
incorrect block count for file com.apple.audio.systemsettings.plist
incorrect block count for file com.apple.bezelservices.plist
invalid sibling link
volume check failed
error:filesystem verify or repair failed.

before i replaced the screen i had a friend check out the hard drive to make sure it was ok. he hooked it up to and external drive reader and was able to access my drive and said everything looked fine. what do i do?

First: Make sure you have backed up all the data you cannot afford loosing to an external disk (or discs).

Then the next thing you should do is run the disk repair again after it reports an error being corrected (and again and again...until it reports no more errors).

If the number of errors are just too many and/or it starts reporting errors that cannot be fixed, the disk could be a goner and you might want to replace it.

And remember: some errors are more serious than others... ;)
