Hi all,

Can anyone help? The home button on my iPhone 7 has completely stopped working, no response nothing. I tried to reset (home+volume down) and it didn't help, so put it into DFU mode and did a hard reset. That didn't work either and the big problem is, I'm stuck at the first screen of setting it up, the only way to continue with set up is "Press home to open".

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Does the widget screen appear after boot? Could try tapping an app to launch it to invoke the pin pad

Are you using your bare finger(skin) to touch the button? It requires a connection on the touchID ring to activate the home button which does not work through gloves or clothes.

Thanks all! No, just the "Hello" in different languages and "Press home to open" at the bottom of the screen. And yes, bare skin!

That sounds like it's stuck on the initial setup screen. If the home button doesn't work I'm not certain what you can do to bypass that.

Sounds like a hardware failure. Either take it to the Apple store or call them on the phone. It should be under warranty.

As others stated, there isn't anything you can do from here on out. It's completely hardware related and looking at a repair.

I thought that may be the case - thanks for the help everyone!

Second problem now - I am in Poland for two weeks. My iPhone 7 was bought in the UK and I have AppleCare+. As far as I know there are no Apple Stores in Warsaw - does anyone know where you take the phone for official replacement/repair in a country with no official Apple Store?

Search for an Apple Authorized Service Provider. They can perform warranty repairs and replacements on iDevices that are fully backed and recognized by Apple.

In a different country then it was bought from? I'm sure it can be done, but I'm pretty sure it won't be under warranty.

If you want under warranty work performed, it will need to be done in the UK, if I am not mistaken.

Edited to add: Call Apps, explain the situation, and they may make an exception for you.

No one else mentioned it here, but hard reset is lock + volume down, not home + volume down. Don't know if you typed it wrong, or actually were doing the wrong combination.
