Re-start fresh, now that you are in recovery mode, reload the firmware that will allow you to start hacking/jailbreaking.

Only you know what is the version of your bootloader, baseband and firmware where you were stuck. You must start with the right combination so you can recover your iPhone from the current state that you left it.

That website is the best step by step hacking/jailbrekaing/downgrading/upgrading website for the iPhone available.
I have used its tutorials since the iPhone was first jailbroken, and I had no problems at all since then, I mean even when something go wrong I started over and it always worked from me.
The key is patience and follow the instructions without jumping from one step to another.

Post the history of your iPhone, or how it was when you started the last hacking attempt:
Firmware, Bootloader, baseband; jailbroken and unlocked state.

If you know also since you bought it, and how it evolved until Today, so we can help you better.

These are the steps to know what is the firmware you have:

I bought the iPhone, firmware 1.11, unlocked using anysim. I then virginized the iPhone, and upgraded to 1.12, and then jailbroke and unlocked using anysimu. This morning, I tried updating, and jailbreaking 1.13. I followed the official devteam tutorial, and it got so far, then stopped. Before 'bricking', a message appeared on the iPhone, telling me that I didn't have much space left. The iPhone is now in recovery mode, and when I try resotring, by holding down alt, and then clicking 'restore', I choose the 1.11 firmware file that I have downloaded, and then it says something along the lines of "iPhone could not be restored" and the error is something like error (1).
    Please help!

Guys, got some potentially good news. I have managed now to restore my iPhone, using iTunes, to firmware 1.12. Is there anyway I can unlocked and jailbreak this now?

Yes! you can downgrade to 1.1.1 to have anySIM solution only if your bootloader allows you to, if not you can't unlock it via software only, you'll need a SIM solution.

Now check where your iPhone is in the firmware check website I mention above, and then use the Hacker's Flow Chart also mentioned in my post.

    You'll be in good shape.

I am still at 1.1.2 jailbroken with AT&T, and I am waiting more days to let them polish everything, I also saw/read that even without Jailbraking the 1.1.3 is giving some users more problems that benefits.

Consider what is the best for you: keep it in 1.1.2 or update it to 1.1.3, wait until the :apple: official SDK is released or jailbrake now until that moment.

What do you mean by pm?

As I understand you have firmware 1.1.2 but I have no clue about your baseband and bootloader.

I'm trying to help you, please read again what I have posted:

These are the steps to know what is the firmware you have (added: and the bootloader and baseband):

These are the steps to know what you can and can't do with your iPhone:

Just follow them and you'll be back in the game.

With 1.1.2 you can only unlock it to another carriers if you have the old boot loader, very few iPhones had that. By on of your pm you may have the old boot loader, but if you tried to update to 1.1.3 it may have changed. Do the check of the bootloader version indicated in the website.

If you have one of the latest bootloaders you can only install 3rd Party apps via Installer once you jailbrake it.

Do your homework and read through the website.

You also have the SIM solution or the hardware unlock, it's your call.

If you have the new bootloader my suggestion to you is to go with the SIM solution if you want to use the phone with another carrier right away, or wait until a new anySIM version is released to work with the unloackable bootloaders (who knows when this will happen).
