Ok, so my mum has just taken a computer from my partner and i am trying to connect the iphone, but it will not even charge.

it is a Packard bell ipower pc vista 64 bit.

All the usb's work as i have swapped around the mouse, keyboard and dongle and they all work!

i have tried both mine and my mums iphone 3gs and it will not work

i know the cable is fine as it works in her old laptop and we have even tried a second cable.

Any Ideas?

Could the iPhones dock connecter be broken? Try charging it thru the wall adapter just to see if the dock connecter is working. If that doesn't work let me know and I'll give you some other ideas.

As I said try charging with the wall charger to check if the dock connected is working.

Clearly it's a problem with the computer, contact Packard Bell (Are they still around?)

No it's possible the dock connecter in the phone is broken, it's possible they can break. I doubt it's the computer.

If its the dock connector then why is the OP able to hook it up successfully to other computers (as he has mentioned multiple times)?

Oh ******, sorry my stupid mistake, I mustn't of read the OP's post properly. Yes, it sounds like a problem with the computer.
