Hi All, looking to connect my iPad Pro to an external monitor but not having much sucess (even through apple support) so wondering if I am missing anything? I have a 1080p HDMI monitor which works with my Mac mini, I have an apple Multiport adapter for my iPad so thought I could use the HDMI port to connect the monitor (and mirror the screen). But it won’t work. I’ve not found any details around what specifications the monitor or cable needs to be as I wonder if there was a minimum and my monitor is too old or the cable is wrong?

I have tried restarting, reconnecting, new cables, software update etc but the monitor doesn’t get a signal. Any ideas? I just got this monitor as my previous one was only a vga and I thought it would be great. (I replaced my old MacBook Pro with an iPad Pro, and just getting used to the different way of working but the monitor would help me to view split screen a bit bigger as i get used to running less documents at a time). If it all worked I was contemplating trying shiftscreen maybe, if the monitor had worked.

Thanks heaps

I haven't experimented with HDMI, but I can connect my 2018 iPP 12.9 using a USB-c to DisplayPort cable.

This Apple support article doesn't include anything about HDMI so I'm guessing it might not be compatible:

I wonder if a Hyper-Drive USB Hub might work here? They offer various hubs.

If the monitor, cable, and adapter work with the Mac mini, they should work with the iPad - there isn't anything unique in the iPad that should be an issue. Specifics might help - what iPad, adapter and cable are you using?

Make sure that your Connections are Secure. Either that or your Adapter is a Dud.
