When using iTunes 10.2.1 with OS X 10.6.7 in coverflow view [not full screen mode] the CPU usage goes to 100% and the fans spin up like hell - This is while iTunes is just sitting open in the background not even being used. I have noticed this issue occuring for at least a year with earlier OS and iTunes versions and on many different macs also.
If I switch from coverflow view to any other view everything returns to normal - Just wondering how long this big old bug has been affecting coverflow view and if there are any known solutions - also what specifically causes it.

    Ideas ?

Never seen this. Maybe your artwork cache is corrupt. You could try deleting the cache and letting iTunes regenerate it.
