Thanks Ledgem. I'm on an old $59 family plan (plus data charges) so I'm guessing that the shared data plan will cost much more than what I'm currently paying... but I'll look into it a bit deeper.

Thanks again!

im getting an ipad air after much debate vs a mini i want the screen estate . anyway its 499 starting price is a bit O_O much for just 16gb !. and if i want cell data and i do its 629 !!! quite a lot for a college kid. i want to see if maybe i can get the tmobile free 200mb a month deal ? what do u guys think. what would entice you to get cellular over just wifi.

I'm getting my first iPad too and I plan on selling it each year and getting the current version. They have good resale values so I won't have to spend much. That way I don't have to spend another $500 down the road in 5 years, and I get the best experience each year. :D

FYI, 200mb will go in a few days of low web browsing. I know this cuz I used to have the 200mb ATT data plan for my iPhone.

Only if there's signal. That's partly why I'm interested. To trial if T-Mobile's coverage has improved any. :p

I always debated on cellular vs wifi only..my first ipad is the original one...32gb and wifi only...there were times when I would be out and about that I wished for cellular service...while I would love to have a bigger storage and cellular, I opted for the mini 16gb wifi/4G LTE verizon. for $359 on a 2 yr contract and since I have the shared plan I'm happy with my decision.
