OK, quickly... just purchased my first mac (Mac Mini 2.0GHz)

Trying to network my Mac Mini and my Windows XP PC via crossover cable. I setup windows sharing and everything works fine as I can see my Mac home folder via XP. I can ping my Mac without a problem via XP, but I can't ping my XP via Mac. I have both my Mac and XP firewalls OFF. It's really bugging me... suggestions anyone?

OS: Tiger 10.4.10
Windows: XP Professional SP2

Mac:
192.168.0.2
255.255.255.0

XP:
192.168.0.1
255.255.255.0

Windows XP doesn't respond to pings by default.

If you really want ping responses, do this on Windows:

-Right-click on your network connection, select Properties
-Go to the Advanced tab, click on 'Settings...'
-Choose the ICMP tab, check 'Allow incoming echo request'
-Ping away

Admiral...

Thanks, but ICMP - "Allow incoming echo request" is checked.

I still can't ping my XP from my Mac.

Any other suggestions??

Thanks!

Admiral... Thanks!

Just remembered I have my AOL Security Firewall turned ON. Just added my Mac's IP to the "allow" list and it worked. Thanks alot!
