Help! Macbook won't boot with install disk

Hi!

I'm new to this forum...

My Macbook is starting to get really slow. I've tried Onyx and it told me that the startup volume had to be fixed. But I can't boot my install DVD by pressing "C" in the startup.

Is there another way to repair the disk?

Is your drive working normally otherwise? If so, can you see the disk under  -> System Preferences -> Startup Disk?

I have the "Startup Disk" panel in front of me right now.
What next?

The install disk should have an icon there.

The icon is there but if I choose to boot from that disk nothing really happends. It reboots the machine but after a while the HD and disk stops.

And does the optical drive work all right with other disks?

Yes sir. I've tested it with a DVD movie and another DVD. Right now I'm running TechTool Pro 5 (bootable DVD-version) in order to check the surface of my HD. So far it has found 1 bad block :S

Yes I can. Right now it's doing a Surface Scan.
