Ok here goes. We have an ATV3 which we use to rent/buy movies using one iTunes Store account/AppleID (no. 2).

Account 2 has no music, rather the music is on a second account/AppleID (no. 1) which is on our Mac Pro (running 10.9).

It's fiddly and veeery time-consuming to switch IDs/accounts on the ATV3 when we want to listen to music on the soundsystem at home to which the ATV is connected.

I am wondering if I could create a second iTunes library on the Mac Pro using this iMore guide.

Then I'd copy the music (which is bought and uploaded through Match) from account 1 to the new library.

And then I'd somehow connect that new library to account 2 which would enable me to access the music through the ATV's "Computers" function.

    Is this even feasible?

Am I the only one with this issue perhaps? Would really appreciate insights.
    TIA

Would love to help, but I have given up on the whole trying to organize music thing since high school (wasted hours trying to organize thing, especially music). iTune is a mess to start with, every time you want to transfer a library and such. I guess it helps when you are not picky about your music collection to start with.

We generally just do Spotify or other stream music and pipe it through Airplay.

Thanks for the reply. I definitely agree there's room for improvement in iTunes.

I guess my main questions are if it's even possible to copy music between iTunes libraries on the same computer (I think it is) and how I go about connecting to that library from the ATV using our iTunes (movie) account (not sure if that's possible).

Was most of your music purchased though the iTunese store by any chance?

If yes, your easiest bet might be to enable family sharing for both accounts and your Apple TV logged in with account 2 will be able to play music with account 1.

Also, if you are willing to phase out account 2 in the future and start buying your movies with account 1, what you can do is enabling family sharing and logging in all your devices with account 1. In that case they will all have access to the iTunes Match library of account 1, and the movies purchased either though account 1 or account 2. The only other difference with your current setup is that if you buy new movies from the Apple TV they will be assigned to account 1.

Hello Bob, thank you for the reply.

Only a small amount of the music was purchased through the iTunes store. The vast amount is from my CD collection.

The problem with phasing out account 2 is that is in the US store which has a considerably better movie library than the store to which account 1 is connected.

As I understand it family sharing requires both account to be in the same iTunes store so that's unfortunately not an option.

Yes correct - not an option if the 2 accounts are for different countries.
