    Hi all,

my pretty new mbp (sr) in the last two days has stopped waking from sleep. whenever i close the lid, that is it, it has to be powered down and then restarted. very annoying.

it doesnt matter if it is plugged in, full or low power, etc. i have the most recent os installations, but i did not do the latest firmware update after hearing of the problems with it.

    any suggestsions?

    thanks

I am having the same problem with my mbp. Mine is just the c2d but they have replaced my motherboard once and its still doing it. This seems to be a problem for some mbps both sr and the original c2d version. After reinstalling osx and still having the problem i took it to the apple store. They told me it could be anything from bad motherboard to bad ram. My advise is to just take it in to apple and have them fix it. Still under warranty so it isnt a real big deal.

I was having that issue - and just did a fresh install to rule that out. I haven't had the problem since though - although now my airport is all jacked up.

But i have a case on it and we will see where it goes - i can say after having "had" to do a back-up/restore i'm feeling way more comfy now. Gee, that was actually EASY to restore :D (i used .mac's backup, and had a SuperDuper copy laying around for added insurance).

I had the same problem with my PowerBook G4.

After 5 trips to the Apple Store... they replaced:

    logic board
    sleep magnet
    clock battery
    superdrive
    bluetooth assembly
    airport assembly
    RAM
    logic board AGAIN
    and finally... my top case...
apparently the temperature sensor in the trackpad was acting erratically causing the laptop to stay in permasleep until battery was removed and it was forced to shut down.

Best of luck isolating your problem. Hopefully your local geniuses are smarter than mine were.

This happens sometimes to me too. Funny thing is that last time I heard skype sign in but the "screen" did not come on.

I have noticed that it happens when I have a new Photoshop (CS3) document open that I have not saved yet and then close the lid. I have lost two projects like that (I was just starting, so I did not loose much).

Bot sure if its a bug in PS CS3. What apps did you have opened
