Over wifi? You'll need an Airport Extreme Base Station, and Snow Leopard.

I have both. How do I make it happen. When ever I close the lid, I try to access it from my Apple TV and my computer disappears.

I have both. How do I make it happen. When ever I close the lid, I try to access it from my Apple TV and my computer disappears.

Make sure that 'wake for network access' os ticked in the power management preferences (it's under the power adaptor tab).

It may be that the laptop needs to be connected to a power line to get wake on network working.
