So I want to get a new display for my Mac Pro, 2009 with a mini display port out in my video card. (Right now GT120 but I'm getting an ATI 6870 this week)

Obviously the Apple 27 inch is the nicest - but a little outside of my price range.

Basically, I'm between the Apple 24 inch LED display, vs the Asus 27 inch VE278Q display.

The only thing that worries me about the Asus is the resolution only being 1920 x 1080 for the 27 inch size vs the Apple 27 inch which is higher.

I'm not a professional video or photo editor, so is it really that big of a deal? Will everyday use look funny at all? I want it to be crisp and look good, even on the Mac Dock and things like that.

And how is the 24 inch LED Apple display? Better or get the Asus 27 inch for more screen size and cheaper?

Thanks guys!

I was in a similar position and not able to justify $1000 for an Apple 27" monitor. I picked up a Dell U2412M 24" monitor at Microcenter for $329. It's very sharp, well made and with excellent color. Screen size is just right.

I actually picked up a 24 inch LED Apple display for $450 - good compromise!

If you want the 2560x1440 then your gonna have to spend $1000 or more.

Dell or Apple. Those are the two that make that resolution and are both fantastic displays.
