I have a stainless steel series 2 that I wear most commonly with the stainless steel Milanese band unless I am using a sport band.

I choose the SS as I felt it fit my attire best, sometimes brown dress shoes/belt and sometimes black. The colors are split evenly with the occasional black, charcoal or navy suit.

I really like the gold iPhone XS Max and gold series 4 this time around but I just cannot see the watch working with my black shoes/clothing. In contract I am trying to get something different than the plain stainless steel I had last time which leave me with the black SS watch however once again I do not see this matching my brown shoes/clothing.

Which would hold up better?

- A black SS with black Milanese loop and brown shoes/ navy suit.
- A gold SS with gold Milanese loop and black shoes/ black suit?

Tbh I would assume they would all hold up relatively similarly. The gold and silver likely will hold up almost identically.

I personally think the gold would go okay/well with partly black attire, probably depends on belt, and suit pattern as well as any other contrasting colors. Only problem with that is going to be that thing is shiny AF, will be similar to the silver, but more gaudy. If that's not a concern of yours then I think it looks great.

My opinion is the gold will "work" with charcoal suit, and maybe navy (depending on pattern). Whether it'll look good or not depends on other factors, but that should be do-able.

The black will "work" with all of the attires you mentioned, it's just blends in way more.

Silver = Band and Attire matches
Gold = Limited band/Attire matches
Black = Matches most attires but limited bands.

I'm in the same conundrum as well but I might go Black since I still have my SS S0.

I really do think the black stainless pairs well with almost anything. I like gold, that was my original intention, but I opted for the black stainless because I do want the DLC coating, which is super protective around the casing. But I find that the black stainless has way more band pairing options then the gold in some cases.

I went with the gold XS Max and gold SS with Milanese. Sad.. but my decision was maybe by a random generator I found on google. Gold won out of a thousands instances between gold, black and silver. I’m sure I can make it work until my next upgrade. Hopefully I don’t inastantly retreat it when I out the watch on for the first time!
