Napoli, city of sun and pizza!
Hi guys! I wanted to play Midnight Mansion (great game, you should try it!) on my iBook with my xbox controller, so I installed the latest driver available on http://tattiebogle.net/index.php/ProjectRoot/Xbox360Controller/OsxDriver which I have found to work with PowerPC Macs, the 0.07 version. It is from 2007, and gives my a lot of issues with many games, this one is no exception.

I haven't Xcode nor buiding skills, so, could you please help me building, or, if you're really kind, build it for me the latest version? It is the 0.12 from 2013.

thank you in advance :)

I've been using the 0.06 version without issues, but I don't play games that often to be sure that it works with everything.
What issues are you facing ?
Will have a look at the source-code also but it's an Xcode build for Snow Leopard so don't know how I will fare with Obj-C and Intell stuff.

I've downloaded the game also so I can try with my Controller this evening.

Hi @Lastic , thanks for your reply. Yeah, I also have used this version, but I only found it working well with emulators. There's always something wrong with Mac native games. Issues such as second analog not recognized, LT and RT not recognized, difficulties in mapping buttons with their proper function.

With Midnight Mansion, the problem is with the key mapping, it is totally wrong and uncomfortable. It uses x y a b, and an analog to move the character, and rb to jump, with the result that the analog is too sensitive with the result that the character moves by itself.

In the release notes of subsequent versions of 360 controller driver, it says that a lot of issues have been solved, so, maybe...

I tried this free 1.2.0b download

https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/17144/midnight-mansion#

but I can't select any other controls except the keyboard ?

Yeah maybe only native Mac compatible gamepads are well recognized by this game.. but I have also issues with analogs on Rayman 3, bloodrayne, and other games... Maybe with latest version we have better options and compatibility

Would it be possible to compile latest version on osx leopard for powerpc, @Lastic ?

My apologies for the late reply, been dealing with sleep deprevation and also bought an Atari 130XE which I have been researching extensively the past 2 weeks, not a lot of PPC at the moment.

Since it's an Xcode build my knowledge is also nil , @AphoticD do you got time and feel up to checking this Xcode build ?

Download 360Controller v0.12 for Leopard PowerPC (Take 2) attached.

Edit (April 16th, 2018): Fixed issue in uninstaller not unloading LaunchDaemon script correctly.

I was able to build for PowerPC once all of the Xcode project files had been set to target ppc and 10.5 specifically. The driver developer's code signing profile also had to be disabled.

The Iceberg package manager described in the Read Me wasn't compatible with the installation project, but the same developer (Stéphane Sudre) had released an older package manager which worked for this: Packages 1.1.3 (PowerPC)

I then wrote an uninstaller script, adapted from @swamprock's Tiger Sierra installation shell scripts.

I have tested installation/uninstallation of the drivers on my PowerBook G4 DLSD 15" [and Dual G5], but I don't have a 360 controller to test if any of this actually works...

Good luck!

Good news is that it works and recognizes my controller as good as the previous version. Bad news is that it brought no differences in games like Midnight Mansion or Rayman 3. For the latter it can be ok with only one analog stick, but for the former the stock key mapping is very bad. I think it has to do with SDL library which the game is based on.

Anyway thanks a lot, @AphoticD , the installation package you made is so well done that it looks like the original one :D I now have latest driver available for my Xbox 360 controller on my iBook :)
