I want to use the wifi at work with my iPhone. The way my employer has the network setup, only the apple laptops set up by them can access the connection. This way no one can bring in an outside device haha. No password is ever needed to connect, it just knows by the IP address I assume. Can someone offer some insight how to manually set up my phone so i can access the connection. I figure since we are all mac here, and the phone is an apple product, it can be done.

When I go in network on my powerbook, I get the following...
    Using DHCP
    Subnet Mask---x.x.x.x
    Serach Domains-Blank
    IPv6 Address--long set of numbers/letters

I have tried entering the info under settings--->WiFi--->the network's blue triangle, where am I going wrong?

If your employer has any sense at all, he's configured the WAP to only allow connections from certain Mac addresses and to require a WPA or (at least) WEP password, which will be in the keychain of each machine. If he hasn't, he needs serious help ;-)

Anyhow, more to the point, unless you have access to that password you're likely to be SOL, I'm afraid...

Not meaning to judge, but frankly, if any employee here tried to connect unauthorised hardware to the systems I manage, they'd be in deep do-do... :p

Thanks for the reply. I got the phone last fall, and just took the "no" from the IT dept. However today, one of their know-it-alls showed me their "new" ipod touch, and the wifi he was using was the network. So now I know it can be done, just don't know how?
