I'm torn between the new MacBook Air, the iPad Pro, and the next gen 14" MacBook Pro. I don't know which one to get. I don't need anything really power intensive but I also feel like the MacBook Air is a bit small for me given I'm used to a 14" ThinkPad. On the other hand, I feel like iPad OS is really the future and may serve me well. I'm a teacher so my needs are pretty much kept to web apps and email. I also need to use PowerPoint. I also love that the iPad Air is good on flights because I do travel internationally every year, sometimes more than once. Help!

Yeah, I think if the 13" pro is too small, the next iteration is supposed to have just a small increase in screen size, maybe less than 1/2 inch. Part of the deal is how the OS treats the space. iPad OS is designed for smaller screens, so maybe it's more efficient on a 13" panel than mac OS would be. You're really talking about 3 different 13" screens. At this point, no advantage to a pro over an air regarding screen size.

1'' on a laptop isn't going to be that noticeable. If you need a new laptop (and want a mac), get one. If you want an iPad, get one.

Im assuming from your post that you already have an Ipad air (as you wrote that the Ipad air is good for flights and you are thinking of buying an Ipad Pro). If you need to use power point than I would not recommend an Ipad Of any kind. power point for Ipad is a very limited program comapred to what you find on the mac or windows. there are a lot of basics things that you cant do with it, and building presentations solely on an Ipad is a pain. I suggest getting the 2020 macbook air.
It has the new better keyboard (that the 13 inch pro doesnt have yet) and its plenty powerful for what you need
