Hi, people smarter than I am.

I have a 3rd gen iPod. Through some insane fluke in the universe, I was able to replace the battery myself a year ago.

Now I need a car charger. I don't understand the volts and amps, and I know that if I get the wrong charger it will fry my iPod.

It is the 20gb iPod with 4 buttons at the top. No clickwheel. This is the spec page.

Please help!

Will this one work?

Thanks a million!

Don't waste your money on car chargers. Just buy a USB to cigarette adaptor and that will work with every future device you ever buy. You can even get ones with two ports so you can run two devices.

I would buy that, because it makes sense, but the iPod won't charge via USB. It only charges via the firewire wall charger or a specific car charger. I just don't know the right amperage (?) for the job.

I think firewire is 12-30 🙂eek:!) volts, and USB is regulated at 5. I think it's just the voltage and charging method that is different.

How well does the 3g iPod work still? Cool to see they're still in use!
